Honey-Soy Marinade for Red Meat

One of Mother's much-loved barbecue marinades. Any leftover meat can be eaten the following day—it gives the marinade more time to soak into the meat and makes it taste even better.

Serves 6-8

Times

Preparation:
15 minutes

Ingredients

In this recipe the proportions of the ingredients are more important than the absolute measurements.

  • Raw chops or steaks
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup dry sherry
  • Mixed herbs or italian herb mix (approximately 2 tsp)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (or 1 tsp garlic powder)
  • Seasoned pepper

Method

Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix.

Tip

If the meat was not frozen prior to marinating it, you can freeze any uncooked meat that has been marinated along with any leftover marinade. Otherwise, you should cook the meat first before freezing.
